What Are You Afraid Of? at Kilkenny Arts Festival
We are thrilled to share the news that Rough Magic will present a work in progress showing of Peter Hanly’s new play What Are You Afraid Of? in Kilkenny Arts Festival. Rough Magic has a longstanding relationship with both Peter and the Kilkenny Arts Festival, and we’re delighted to be part of this wonderful programme.
Perhaps you’ll remember actor Peter Hanly from the Oscar-winning film Braveheart, or the BBC’s hit TV show Ballykissangel or his many stage appearances with Rough Magic, at the Abbey, the Gate and many other theatres. So where did he disappear to and why?
During the dress rehearsal for Molly Sweeney at the Gate Theatre in 2011, Peter suddenly experienced extreme stage fright. Within a year, he’d given up acting. Until now. In What Are You Afraid Of? Peter takes to the stage one last time to find out what happened and to ask himself, and you: what are you afraid of?
What Are You Afraid Of? directed by Lynne Parker will play at the Watergate Theatre on 14th August at 5.30pm, for one night only. Get your tickets for this very special presentation at this link.
This in-development showing of work in progress will be followed by a conversation with the writer/performer, director and members of the creative team.
